Have we met?

introphotoSince January, Skokie Public Library’s previous School Services Liaison, Susan Carlton, has been leading the Library’s outreach team in an innovative new role as the Community Engagement Manager. As a part of this department, I have been given the exciting opportunity to become the Library’s School Services Librarian.

Before pursuing Library Science, I spent a year teaching fourth grade at a bilingual school in Central America. After my return to Illinois in 2010, I began working in the Youth Computer Lab at Skokie Public Library. I was immediately impressed by the Library and knew that I wanted to be a part of the significant role it was playing in the community. I decided to attend Dominican University’s Graduate School of Library Science while I worked in Youth Services at public libraries in Arlington Heights, Oak Park and Skokie. After completing my MLIS, I began as a Youth Librarian at Skokie Public Library and have really enjoyed working in the richly diverse Skokie community. I am looking forward to developing strong and thriving relationships with the local schools and using Library Links as a great tool for our collaboration!
