Two Great Tastes That Taste Great Together

Two of my favorite forces for truth, justice, and the American way just combined forces. Consumers Union is the nearly 75-year-old nonprofit institution dedicated to fighting for the right of the individual to shop freely. You probably recognize their efforts by their flagship publication, Consumer Reports. They have long been the most trusted source for product information, and their annual guides on new cars, used cars, electronics, and everything else have been mainstays at the Library.

Similarly, the blog Consumerist has been offering daily solutions for those given a raw deal by companies big and small. Among the tools they’ve created is the Executive Email Carpet Bomb (or EECB), a way to make your voice heard at the highest level. The blog is filled with great adivce on avoiding scams, choosing the right products, and making sure your money is spent wisely.

Until recently, The Consumerist was part of the Gawker network of blogs. This was something of an odd fit, as Gawker is traditionally focused on far more trivial subjects. Consumerist was put up for sale near the end of 2008, and Consumers Union picked them up. We couldn’t have asked for a better pairing.
